In a world where there is a never-ending supply of new content, it's easy to feel as though we're constantly drowning. Where can we find peace? Where do we find ourselves? Where do our souls rest from the demands of busy social media feeds, fake news, and hyper-sexualized celebrities? In a film by Karan Johar called "Singh Is Kinng", the protagonist finds himself in a similar situation. He has found peace within himself but must define his role in society as he grapples with his past and changes wrought by the continual process of globalization. Singh Is Kinng is the story of Babloo (Arjun Rampal), an orphaned young man who has grown up with his grandfather, Balwant Singh (Om Puri) ever since his parents passed away. The two men live alone in an apartment that is devoid of any guests or visitors. Balwant Singh has lived through all the changes, although he refuses to leave the world he grew up in. This tale is set in present day Mumbai, India, where Babloo works at a toy factory alongside Junior (Boman Irani) and Jayesh (Sushant Singh Rajput). Each day they make toys for televisions and other electronics until they pass out on the job. Babloo is a bit of a dreamer and longs to have a partner in life. The only woman he dreams about is Geet (Shilpa Shetty). The two have known each other for as long as he can remember, but now that she's become an adult, their relationship has changed from being friends to being awkward strangers. Babloo is faced with the choice between continuing with the life he knows and finding his place in society. Babloo becomes further confused when Balwant Singh announces that he must start thinking of marriage; however, the only way it will happen is if Balwant Singh approves of his bride-to-be. After meeting a potential match, he runs into Geet and they both notice a mutual attraction to one another. The kiss that follows is a sign of things to come for Babloo as he begins to take charge of his life and find that the only way for him to have a normal life is by choosing Geet as his bride. Although this may seem like an easy choice, Balwant Singh's refusal makes it much more complicated. In order for Babloo to pursue Geet, he must leave the old man behind forever. In this film, the protagonists have been placed in an environment where change has been forced upon them from all sides. Although Babloo is a dreamer, he still places importance on the importance of family and tradition. Balwant Singh follows this tradition as deeply as possible with his daily prayers to Lord Ganesha. For him, the traditions of the past are incredibly important, even from an emotional perspective. This is a crucial part of who his grandfather is and why they have a strong bond. However, since he has lived through so many changes in his lifetime, Balwant Singh refuses to make any more changes in his life. He prefers to remain in the comfort of his own home rather than go out with Babloo and Junior for karaoke events or other such gatherings where they're almost always met with jeers and insults regarding their age and lifestyle choice. cfa1e77820
